OOOSH! Your Local Driving School Book lessons

Terms and conditions

For instructors and learners. These terms are based on the Code of Practice for Approved Driving Instructors. Please read them, and ask us if you have any questions.

Driving licence

Pupils must hold a valid current driving licence. An eyesight test will be carried out. It is the pupil’s responsibility to wear glasses or contact lenses if they need them. OOOSH! must be told about any points, endorsements, bans, convictions or restrictions of any kind on a pupil’s licence.

Fitness to drive

It is the pupil’s responsibility to make sure they are fit to drive, and to tell us about any medical condition, disability or injury that may affect their ability or entitlement to drive. Pupils must not drive under the influence of drink or drugs; some medication, such as hay fever remedies, may cause drowsiness. Pupils must not book lessons when they are likely to be tired, stressed or distracted. For comfort and safety, pupils are strongly advised to wear suitable clothing and footwear. Foul or abusive language will not be tolerated and may result in the lesson ending and the fee being lost.

Cancelling or postponing a lesson

At least 48 hours’ notice is needed to cancel or postpone a lesson. Lessons cancelled with less than 48 hours’ notice must be paid for. An intensive course cancelled with more than 7 days’ notice is subject to a £50 administration fee. Payment will be lost for an intensive course cancelled with 7 days’ notice or less.

If the instructor postpones

If a lesson has to be postponed at short notice because of a breakdown or other emergency, an alternative lesson will be arranged by mutual agreement. For a driving test, the instructor will be responsible for any lost test fees. Driving tests take priority over lessons, so a lesson may be rearranged if the instructor gets late notice of a test at about the same time. Your instructor will always try to be on time, but traffic sometimes makes this impossible. If a lesson starts up to 10 minutes late, it will end late accordingly.

Driving tests

For road safety, the right is reserved to withdraw use of the car for a test from pupils not at test standard. Usually, use of the car will depend on passing a mock test marked to the same standard as the DVSA practical test. Don’t book a test without first checking your instructor and car are available. OOOSH! has no control over tests cancelled by the DVSA, but you may be able to claim back lesson fees from the DVSA when a test is cancelled at short notice. A minimum of 2.5 hours with your instructor is needed on test day.
